The Ministry of Public Health concluded a workshop, which was held remotely, on educating productive families of the general health requirements for food safety.
The workshop was organised in co-operation with the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs on how to ensure the safety of our food products, with the participation of 30 productive families. This is within the framework of joint co-operation between both ministries to enhance the awareness of productive families of all health requirements to ensure food safety.
During the workshop, a detailed explanation was provided to the participants on the importance of food safety, knowledge of microbial properties, types, growth factors, types of pollutants, sources of food contamination, food poisoning, general health requirements for the food establishment, and the proper way to purchase foodstuffs and the method of transporting and storing them.
It also explained the stages of the food chain, common mistakes in the kitchen, the health requirements for transporting, displaying and selling ready-to-eat food, cleaning, disinfection, personal hygiene, healthy behaviour, and other important matters.
