The acting undersecretary for Trade Affairs at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI), Saleh bin Majid al-Khulaifi (pictured), stressed the need for all establishments and shops to adhere to the Covid-19 measures and restrictions contained in Wednesday’s Cabinet decision to ensure the safety of all.
He also affirmed the ministry’s keenness, in light of the current circumstances associated with the increase in the number of people infected with Covid-19, to ensure the continued provision of basic services to citizens and residents, on top of which is ensuring the continuity of supplies of food and consumer goods, QNA reported.
He stressed that the MoCI, in close co-operation with the Ministry of Public Health and other authorities concerned, will work to ensure that facilities, shops and restaurants apply all restrictions contained in the decision.
He said joint inspection teams will make sure of this through tours and inspection visits to all commercial complexes, foodstuff stores and other facilities that provide various services to the public.
The official noted the MoCI is also keen to ensure that the facilities concerned continue to provide the necessary services and implement all health requirements, stressing in this context the state’s keenness to draw up a policy based on the balance between commercial benefit and community health, benefiting from the experience of 2020.
