The Crescent Sighting Committee at the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs on Sunday decided to reexamine the crescent sighting of Ramadan on Monday. The decision was announced by Awqaf through its Twitter handle after a meeting of the committee was held.
The decision was taken after it was not proven that the month of Shaban didn’t enter the evening of the 29th of Rajab and no one came forward to testify about the crescent sighting. “The committee decided to continue its work and to reexamine the crescent sighting tomorrow,” the tweet said.
Earlier, Awqaf tweeted that Ramadan will start on Tuesday and the last day of Sha’ban will be on Monday. The tweet was, however, deleted and the new decision was announced.
