As part of the traffic inspection campaign to control violations throughout the holy month of Ramadan, the General Directorate of Traffic announced the seizure of about 350 vehicles for committing several violations.
The campaign aims to reduce traffic accidents and wrong traffic behaviour, as well as strengthen road safety requirements to preserve lives and property.
Assistant Head of the Investigation Department Captain Mohamed Safar Al Kuwari explained that the General Directorate of Traffic has annually organised this campaign during Ramadan to control the most common and dangerous violations of road users, indicating that the campaign will continue until the end of the holy month.
Al Kuwari stated that the traffic campaign targets all areas in the country, with the participation of military and civilian patrols, stressing that the department will not spare perpetrators of these violations that endanger lives of the drivers and all road users.
He added that traffic patrols are working to ensure that road users follow all preventive measures approved by the relevant authorities in the country to limit the spread of Covid-19. He indicated that the most prominent violations that have resulted in vehicle seizures are: reckless driving, excessive speed, car races, complete concealment, sound, and other violations, pointing out that the department has transferred drivers of violating vehicles to the competent authorities for legal action.
The Assistant Head of the Investigation Department stressed that the department is working round-the-clock to receive complaints and reports from the public, calling on everyone to immediately report any wrong traffic behaviour.
The General Directorate of Traffic calls on all motorists and road users to adhere to the traffic law, to be careful, especially in residential areas, and to shun wrong traffic behaviours.
