The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Monday reported that 49.6% of the eligible population in Qatar has received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccines. A total of 1,844,658 vaccine doses have been administered since the start of the National Covid-19 Vaccination Programme, with 31,418 doses given in the past 24 hours, according to the Qatar News Agency.

Also, 87.7% of over-60s (the most vulnerable population group) has been vaccinated with at least one dose, while 80.7% has received both doses. The ministry on Monday reported 397 new confirmed cases of Covid-19, 277 of whom were from the community and 120 travellers returning from abroad. It also recorded 1,022 recoveries from the virus during the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries in Qatar to 202,552.

Further, the MoPH on Monday announced four new deaths, of people aged 46, 52, 54 and 62 years, respectively, three of whom had a history of chronic disease. All of them were receiving the necessary medical care. The ministry reiterated that it is important for everyone to play their role in controlling the virus by following precautionary measures such as adherence to physical distancing, avoiding close contact with others, crowded places and confined closed spaces where people congregate, wearing a face mask, and washing hands regularly.

Anyone suffering from Covid-19 symptoms should contact the 16000 helpline immediately. This is important as the earlier the disease is detected, the easier it will be to receive the right treatment and recover from it. One can visit the MoPH website for regular updates and new information.
