A lot of anxiety pops up regarding the upcoming period, especially with the strict and cautious behaviour patterns that people have begun to adapt to in order to confront the coronavirus and try to prevent its spread. This will have a profound impact on our social life and how we interact physically with others around us.

Also, returning to life is not as easy as it seems, and changing the normal standards of life after the corona crisis will remain an obstacle that haunts many, especially after staying at home throughout the quarantine period. While some were forced to work remotely, others were obligated to continue working from their workplaces due to the nature of their professions, while others lost their jobs.

Psychotherapist Rania Shatila believes that returning to the practice of normal social life requires a great time, as the crisis we are going through is an ‘existential’ crisis, as it affects the physical/social aspect of closeness, which is one of the most existential features of the human being.

Shatila believes that “anxiety and fear will be very present after a number of countries start to return life to its normal course, especially in light of economic anxiety and the loss of confidence in governments and politics that have been unable to find alternatives for many societal groups. Therefore, we need a great deal of time to absorb and understand the methods.  Which we will resort to in order to organize our lives that for several months have ceased production and normal communication. "

She explains that ‘return anxiety’ embodies the fear of the unknown and the loss of this period of security created by the mandatory stone inside our homes. The closure has created an artificial sense of security about the world, and we must not forget that anxiety occurs when we feel fear of a potential threat to our health and personal safety, and the feeling is entrenched.  Anxiety when it is accompanied by ambiguity, tension, and the occurrence of change.

So, while the trend is heading towards an uncertain and unpredictable future, it is quite natural to be concerned about it, but the solution lies in how to control this feeling and control it. Take your time going back to life, as each one of us need their own pace, but eventually we will get there and be back to ‘NORMAL’.
