Doha Festival City (DHFC) is set to reopen its theme parks Virtuocity and Snow Dunes from today (May 28), following the government’s announcement on the phased approach to the reopening of amusement parks and other recreational activities in Qatar.
The opening of Virtuocity and Snow Dunes will be followed by the reopening of Angry Birds World which will be announced soon.
After months of closure, the two theme parks will welcome back vaccinated visitors for a fun and safe experience, adhering to 20% indoors capacity as per the government guidelines.
DHFC theme parks are owned and managed by 100% Qatari operator Leisure, driven by operational excellence and committed to deliver excellent entertainment services.
“We are delighted to share the joy with Qatar’s community in one of our favourite destinations, and to be able to offer our customers another memorable experience that goes beyond shopping,” DHFC general manager Robert Hall said in a statement.
Leisure has announced its new operating procedures in preparation for the phased approach of the reopening of the amusement parks. The updated procedures will adhere to the government recommendations while providing all guests an exciting experience.
The staff at the entertainment parks, are also highly trained for the reopening, following the new measures and procedures to provide visitors with a remarkable and safe experience.
“Our main objective is to provide our guests with an exclusive entertaining experience in a safe environment. Accordingly, we will implement all needed measures without any compromises. Social distancing and continuous sanitisation of all rides and attractions are the basis of our procedures along with reduced capacity of 20% indoors and a mandatory Golden Ehteraz for our guests,” Leisure managing director Sherif Elbassiouny said.
“Those coming to the park will be required to undergo a health screening at the entrance, show a Golden Ehteraz status, wear a mask during their presence in the park and undergo a temperature check,” he added.
Along with these guidelines, all visitors can also expect the following:
• Hand sanitising stations throughout the park.
• Enhanced cleaning, done between sessions and every night to sanitise the park and all park amenities (includes restrooms, seating areas, lockers and tubes).
• Signs and ground staff will be present across the parks reminding everyone to maintain social distancing and use appropriate PPE when required.
All ground staff members are also required to undergo screening prior to shifts, and must follow several protocols when managing guest services and rides, cleaning various areas of the park and overseeing operational areas.
DHFC opening hours are from Saturday to Wednesday between 10am and 10 pm, and from Thursday to Friday between 10am and 11pm. Virtuocity and Snow Dunes opening hours are from Thursday to Friday between 3pm and 12am, and from Saturday to Wednesday between 1pm and 10pm.
