Applications are now open for Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar’s (WCM-Q) Biomedical Research Training Programme 2021.
The programme is designed to give aspiring college graduates the opportunity to gain key research skills and experience to help them kick-start successful careers in biomedical research.
The programme has been redesigned and extended this year to include a ten-month training period from September 2021 to June 2022. Participating graduates will work alongside WCM-Q’s world-leading scientists in the college’s state-of-the-art laboratories on a program that has been carefully designed to equip them with a wide variety of research skills, experiences, and competencies, providing a firm foundation upon which they can build careers in biomedical research.
Interns will gain practical laboratory skills, research administration skills, knowledge about how to conduct clinical research projects, and the chance to contribute to ongoing scientific studies being carried out at WCM-Q.
Although the programme is aimed at recent graduates interested in pursuing a career as a bench or clinical researcher, or a research administrator, applications from nationals and long-term residents are welcomed irrespective of their discipline. The training programme is a full-time, ten-month internship commitment and trainees receive a graduation certificate upon completion. All participating interns are paid a stipend as part of a comprehensive compensation package. To date, the programme has completed ten annual cycles and has provided training to 37 interns.
The programme, launched in 2011, was inspired by Qatar National Vision 2030 and the goal of creating a knowledge-based economy by helping build national human capacity and training Qataris for a post-hydrocarbon future.
Applications to join Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar’s Biomedical Research Training Programme for Nationals can be submitted online now until July 11. Interested applicants can contact the research training team for more information at [email protected]
