Indian Cultural Center (ICC) recently kicked off week-long activities to commemorate World Environment Day with a tree plantation ceremony at the ICC premises. The tree was planted by Padma Karri, Second Secretary at Embassy of India, along with A P Manikantan, immediate past president of ICC.
The event began with the speech by ICC President P N Baburajan, who explained the activities planned for the week. Chief guest Padma Karri spoke about the need to restore nature and its importance. Guest of honour A P Manikantan expressed his views about the importance of environment day and ways to protect the environment.
The programme was also attended by ICC managing committee members. Acting General Secretary Sudhir Gupta welcomed the gathering. Saplings were presented to both the guests. Vote of thanks was proposed by Head of Cultural Activities Shweta Koshti.
