*HE Sheikh Mohamed chairs consultative meeting of Arab foreign ministers

A consultative meeting of the Arab foreign ministers Tuesday condemned and denounced the new Israeli government's very negative statements towards peace, the Palestinians and the imposition of settlement, as well as the Israeli insistence on conducting a march in occupied East Jerusalem.
The Israeli position constitutes a provocation to the Palestinians and may cause the crisis to be triggered again, the meeting convened in Doha stated, as explained in an official statement.
The meeting, chaired by Qatar's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, considered the developments in the Palestinian issue and listened to a statement from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Palestine, in addition to interventions from most of the heads of delegations.
Yesterday's meeting was the first after an agreement reached by the ministers last February on the importance of intensifying their consultations. Several topics were raised. There were statements from the foreign ministers of Yemen, Libya, Lebanon and Sudan about the situation in their countries.
Also discussed were developments of negotiations on the Iranian nuclear issue and Iranian behaviour in the region and the Arab handling of the Syrian crisis and how to maximise the Arab role in this regard.
The Arab League Council on the Ministerial Level at its extraordinary meeting in Doha yesterday congratulated the UAE on the occasion of its winning a non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council for the period 2022-2023. It also thanked Tunisia for its efforts in defending the Arab causes and enhancing cooperation between the Arab League and the UN during its membership tenure at the Security Council during 2020- 2021.
Later in the evening, HE Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani tweeted: "Delighted to welcome Arab foreign ministers and heads of delegations participating in the consultative meeting and the meeting of the Council of the Arab League on Renaissance Dam. We reviewed the joint Arab action process and ways to enhance it & regional and int’l developments."
