* Gives nod to draft laws on combating conflict of interest, regulation of parking lots * Council welcomes Qatar's hosting of UNOCT programme office
 
The Shura Council held its weekly meeting Monday, under the chairmanship of HE the Speaker Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud, via video conference at the council's headquarters.
At the beginning of the meeting, the council welcomed Qatar's hosting of the Office of the United Nations Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) Programme on Parliamentary Participation in Preventing and Combating Terrorism, in accordance with the memorandum of understanding and agreement signed between the Shura Council and the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Office to establish this office in Qatar, which cover all parliaments of the world, amid wide international participation in the opening ceremony and a regional and international welcome for the start of the office's work, which is the first of its kind in the region and the world.
The council stressed that the opening of this office in Doha reflects the extent to which the international community appreciates Qatar's efforts under the leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, in combating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
The council then continued its session when it reviewed the two reports of the Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee on a draft law on the issuance of a law to combat conflict of interest and a draft law on the Shura Council.
After extensive discussions of the two reports, the council recommended the amendment of some of their articles, and decided to approve them in their amended form and refer its recommendations regarding them to the esteemed government.
The council also reviewed the report of the Public Services and Utilities Committee on a draft law on the regulation of parking lots and the two reports of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee on a draft law amending some provisions of the Qatar Financial Center Law promulgated by Law No 7 of 2005, and a draft law amending some provisions of Law No 34 for 2005 on Investment Free Zones.
After discussing the reports, the Council approved the aforementioned draft laws and decided to submit its recommendations thereon to the esteemed government.
