Qatar participated on Wednesday in the preparatory meeting of the ministries of electricity and water preparatory for the work of the 30th meeting of the GCC Electricity and Water Cooperation Committee, held via video communication technology.
The State of Qatar was represented by HE President of Qatar General Electricity and Water Corp (Kahramaa) Eng.Essa bin Hilal Al Kuwari in the meeting which dealt with the most important axes related to coordination and joint work between member states in the fields of electricity and water.
During the meeting, HE Eng. Al Kuwari affirmed Qatar's permanent support for all efforts and projects to raise the level of coordination and cooperation between the GCC states in the fields of energy and water resource management, highlighting the importance of this endeavor in enhancing energy and water security for all Arab Gulf states.
His Excellency highlighted the importance of bilateral water interconnection projects as an important step towards achieving comprehensive connectivity between all GCC countries, stressing that the State of Qatar considers the collective water linkage a strategic goal of great importance to all member states.
He also referred to the great achievements and strides made by the State of Qatar in the field of managing water resources and rationalizing energy consumption, stressing the need for GCC to face new challenges, meet the high demand for energy in the GCC states, and the importance of this in supporting the Gulf economies and promoting growth rates.
The preparatory meeting resulted in a set of recommendations to be discussed in the next ministerial meeting, which is scheduled to be held Thursday.
