The Sudanese government has expressed its appreciation and thanks for Qatar Charity (QC) for its humanitarian and charitable efforts.
Several government officials, when they met with QC’s delegation, praised the quality of its projects implemented in various fields and in different states of the country.
At the conclusion of the visit, the delegation inaugurated the Taiba Education City in Omdurman, Sudan, in the presence of officials and the public. The complex, which is the largest of its kind in Sudan, provides inclusive services for 500 orphaned children, QC has said in a statement.
The delegation included Nawaf Abdullah al-Hammadi, CEO’s assistant for the International Operations and Programmes sector at Qatar Charity, and Hassan Odeh Hassan Odeh, director of QC’s Sudan office.
“Qatar Charity carried out huge work in the states of Darfur and built entire model villages to house the displaced,” said the Minister of Social Development, Ahmed Adam Bakheet, upon receiving QC’s delegation.
The minister also indicated that Qatar has become an icon in the field of humanitarian and voluntary work, with its support and assistance extended globally, appreciating the humanitarian efforts of Qatar and QC for the sake of humankind.
Sudan Humanitarian Aid commissioner Najm al-Din Moussa said the new situation in the country requires continued support from Qatar Charity, announcing that the commission is ready to fully co-ordinate with it. He has "highly valued its great support in various fields, pledging to facilitate the implementation of its projects in Sudan", the statement notes.
The undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr Yousra Mohamed Othman, praised QC’s various health projects, indicating that they are happy to enhance co-operation to accelerate the implementation of Qatar Charity’s various health projects in several states of Sudan.
Al-Hammadi said Qatar Charity has many qualitative projects in different states of Sudan, such as the Darfur project, which is among the largest to be implemented abroad. He added that QC is ready to co-ordinate with the private and government sectors to implement projects in Sudan, where it has an important office, indicating that Qatar Charity focuses on development work.
Further, al-Hammadi noted that QC has partnerships with United Nations agencies and international organisations, indicating that more than 90% of its resources come from donations by philanthropists in Qatar.
He said Qatar Charity implements various projects through its 32 field offices and supervises the implementation of its projects in 70 countries around the world through these offices, adding that QC sponsors 15,000 orphans in Sudan.
