The Ministry of Interior (MoI) and embassy of Bangladesh in Qatar jointly organised a seven-episode webinar series for Bangladeshi community members living in Qatar on June 27.
Dr Ahmed Munirus Saleheen, secretary of Bangladesh's Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, was present as the chief guest. Bangladesh's ambassador to Qatar Md Jashim Uddin chaired the event, which was delivered on the Zoom platform.
The ambassador expressed gratitude to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and the Government of Qatar for providing healthcare and free vaccines to expatriates.
He highlighted the various activities and services of the embassy and urged all to abide by the local rules and regulations of Qatar.
Secretary Dr Saleheen described expatriates as an important human resource and highlighted the various activities of the ministry for expatriates. He urged to create a positive image for the Bangladeshi community in Qatar through their competence and good conduct and to stay away from any crime, including drugs.
Dr Nadir Abbara, an official from the MoI's Drugs Enforcement Department, made a presentation titled 'Drugs and Alcohol Prevention'. Officials from the Bangladesh embassy and MoI, leaders of the Bangladesh community and about 300 Bangladeshi expatriates attended the event.
Counsellor Dr Mustafizur Rahman thanked the participants.
