Speaking on the occasion, the ambassador said: “Today there is an active and modern media in Bangladesh. The last few years have seen a groundbreaking change in the television journalism. This change is a reflection of the transformation that have taken place in various fields in our country. Today, Bangladesh has set foot on the highway of development. We are moving from the list of least developed countries to the list of developing countries. We have successfully dealt with the first wave of the pandemic. We believe that we will be able to keep the wheel of the economy fast by successfully dealing with the second wave.
“In addition to the pandemic, we have many other challenges including sending more than a million Rohingya back to their home countries. Our visionary and patriotic leadership is taking on these challenges to continue the progress of development. Today, under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, we are moving forward to take our rightful place in the world. We will soon be able to realise the dream of the father of the nation – Sonar Bangla – to build a modern Bangladesh free from hunger and poverty.”
Speaking further on the efforts of the embassy, the ambassador said: “At the embassy, we are trying to find ways to further enhance the quality of services for expatriate brothers and sisters. An air-conditioned tent or seating area is being set up in the premises for those visiting the embassy. Hopefully it will be launched next week. Our mobile consular service has been re-launched. A year-long programme with Qatar’s Interior Ministry has begun to raise awareness among expatriate workers. It is on a virtual platform. I think all of you need to participate. Our goal is to make the embassy a unique place by increasing the quality of service. I urge you to follow the local rules. Follow the health rules also. Remember that each one of you in this country represents the red-green flag.”
