Carrying the colours of the Al Mamoura Partnership, the two-year-old colt Hadman (IRE) (StarspangledbannerxAnneli) notched up a second career win in just four starts, completing a double when taking the Irish EBF Median Sires Series Race at Naas Racecourse, Ireland on Saturday.
Hadman is trained by Joseph Patrick O’Brien and was ridden by claiming jockey Dylan Brown McMonagle, who was also on-board for the colt’s first victory at Gowran Park.
Just like his win at Gowran Park, Hadman broke quickly from the stalls and was immediately placed in front of his eight rivals.
Although he set a strong pace in front, Hadman was a shade keen throughout and had most of the field in trouble two furlongs from home as he stretched his advantage to two lengths. Geocentric (IRE) (KodiacxRajmahal) challenged in the closing stages, but Hadman proved tough and went on to win by just under a length at the line.
Geocentric finished runner-up for trainer GM Lyons and jockey Colin Keane. The AP O’Brien-trained and Wayne Lordan-ridden Head To Head (GB) (ZoffanyxEntreat) made up late ground and finished strongly down the outside further 1½ lengths behind to take the third place.
Bred by Meribelle Irish Farms Limited, Hadman is a son of Coolmore stallion Starspangledbanner, a sire on fire this year. He is out of the Galileo mare Anneli, a daughter of two-time listed winner Anne Of Kiev.
