More than 50 divers participate in Old Doha Port's seabed cleaning initiative

More than 50 certified divers participated in Old Doha Port's second edition annual Seabed Cleaning Initiative, focused on restoring seafaring ecosystems and safeguarding the environment.ExxonMobil Qatar was a key contributor. Green Energy conducted pre-event surveys to identify the amount of waste at the targeted area, while Tanzifco managed the collection, sorting, and disposal of debris.The Qatar Coast Guard provided safety measures for divers, and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change supplied boats, crane boats, and logistical support.The divers removed debris from the seabed, including plastics, fishing nets, and other hazardous materials that pose significant risks to marine life and navigation.The operation took place at the Mina Corniche in Old Doha Port, addressing depths of up to 6m. "Our marine environment is vital to Qatar's heritage, economy, and the wellbeing of future generations," Old Doha Port CEO Mohamed Abdulla al-Mulla said in a press statement.ExxonMobil Qatar’s Public and Government Affairs vice president and manager Rashid Al-Hajri said: "Thank you to Doha Old Port for leading this important effort that exemplifies our commitment to supporting sustainable practices – both locally and globally – to protect marine life, reduce waste, and help create a global circular economy”.
