Qatar's population dropped to around 2.5mn in June this year from 2.79mn in June 2020 and nearly 2.63mn in May 2021, according to data available on the Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA) website.
The total population in June was 2,504,910 as compared to 2,794,148 in the same month last year and 2,628,512 in May this year, the data showed.
Of the total population in June, 1,825,399 were males and 679,511 females.
Meanwhile, in its detailed statistics bulletin for May, the authority said 511 traffic accident cases were recorded in the country that month in which there were injuries or fatalities. This translated to a monthly increase of 1.2% and an annual rise of 53.9%.
Minor injuries (466) accounted for the vast majority of such traffic accident cases in May with 91%, followed by major injuries at 7%. Nine deaths were also recorded, accounting for 2% of the traffic accident cases.
