* talabat holds region-wide initiative, donating 100% of its earnings from orders on May 27 to support humanitarian efforts in Palestine
talabat wrapped up its region-wide initiative in support of immediate humanitarian relief efforts in Palestine, by donating 100% of all earnings from orders on May 27 to its long-standing partners, including the World Food Programme (WFP) and Qatar Charity (QC).
In addition, customers in Qatar have donated over QR205,000 to QC through the talabat app. All proceeds will be used to support families and children in need of humanitarian assistance in Palestine, talabat has said in a statement.
Also, talabat employees voluntarily donated parts of their salaries where possible.
"As a result, a donation from talabat regionally totalling QR1,935,650 ($530,315) will be made in support of humanitarian relief efforts in Palestine," the statement noted.
All funds are currently being transferred to talabat’s long-standing partners, WFP and QC as well as Oman’s Dar Al Atta’a and the Kuwaiti Red Crescent through ‘Give’.
Francisco Miguel De Sousa, managing director of talabat Qatar, said: “We have been deeply touched by the community in Qatar and how they mobilised to support our humanitarian campaign. It has been heartwarming to see humanity in action.”
Tomaso Rodriguez, talabat CEO, shared how grateful he was to receive such overwhelming support from customers, partners, riders, vendors and employees: “I’d like to extend an immense thank you to everyone who chose to place orders on talabat on May 27 and donated through the app. It was incredible to see our community come together and stand with humanity during this time, and our hearts are full from the reaction we’ve seen across our ecosystem.”
Consumers in Qatar will continue to be able to donate to Palestine and other locally charitable causes through talabat’s in-app virtual charities. They can download talabat on the iOS App Store and Google Play Store.
