Total sales of local vegetables through the Premium Qatari Vegetables and Qatar Farms programmes amounted to about 760 tonnes in June, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) said on Wednesday.
Of this, 307 tonnes were marketed through the Premium Qatari Vegetables programme and 453 tonnes through the Qatar Farms initiative.
Products sold through the two programmes are available in major consumer complexes in Qatar, such as LuLu Hypermarket, Carrefour, Al Meera, Family Food Centre and others.
The MME has adopted the two programmes to market Qatari vegetables in order to provide an opportunity to Qatari farmers to display their local production of high-quality vegetables in consumer complexes at reasonable prices for customers without any intermediary, and without the farmer having to pay any financial commissions for the same.
