Members of American Girl Scouts in Doha visited the hawksbill sea turtle conservation project site in the Fuwairit area, where they learnt about the efforts of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME)'s Protection and Wildlife Department in protecting such endangered turtles. Before the tour began, the team listened to an explanation about the project and its objectives. The project started in the beginning of April and continues until the end of July (conclusion of the second phase). They then took a field tour, which included cleaning the beach and watching the nests of baby turtles and their release into the sea, the MME said in a statement. Ali Saleh al-Marri, head of the wildlife department, distributed souvenirs among the visiting girl scouts team at the end of the tour. The team is part of a joint educational programme between American School of Doha and Compass International School.
