ICAI celebrates 73rd Chartered Accountants Day

Doha chapter of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) recently celebrated Chartered Accountants Day. The event was organised on a virtual platform and saw more than 125 participants from Qatar and other countries.
Vignesh Kalyanaraman, chapter secretary, opened the event. Nirlep Bhatt, chapter chairperson, welcomed the audience. The chief guest was Suresh Prabhu, Member of Parliament of India. He highlighted the role of the chartered accountants in Qatar and appreciated their contribution for four decades. He urged the audience to identify new avenues where they can contribute to the global economy. He pointed out that the chartered accountants with their business sense and commercial acumen can play a huge role in reviving the global economy post Covid-19.The guest of honour was Dr Deepak Mittal, ambassador of India to Qatar. He lauded the contribution of the chartered accountants as partners in nation building. He emphasised upon integrity and independence that the profession carries and mentioned that the chartered accountants are looked upon with respect by the Qatari business owners. Recently signed MoU between ICAI and QFC will pave a way to further strengthen the deep-rooted relation between Qatar and India and will open up new opportunities for the business owners and professionals.Mahaveer Singhvi, joint secretary at Ministry of External Affairs, India, was another guest of honour. He asked all chartered accountants to work closely with the embassy of India and keep on making positive contribution to the profession and society at a large.Central Council Member of ICAI Aniket Talati explained recently initiated drive on financial and tax literacy by the chartered accountants. He gave a presentation on the code of ethics, which has been amended recently in line with the dynamic business scenario.Himanshu Bakshi spoke on ‘aspire to inspire before you expire.’ He spoke about his life struggle and how he overcame all the obstacles and achieved some of the outstanding laurels. Kishore Alex, executive committee member proposed the vote of thanks. Positive feedbacks and insightful question and answer session were hallmark of the event.
