The sixth Local Dates Festival, which was scheduled to be launched on Saturday, has been postponed until next Thursday and will be held in the northern arena of Souq Waqif.
According to local Arabic daily Arrayah, source have said around 80 farms will be displaying their products at the festival.
Tests have been conducted on samples of dates at the Ministry of Public Health's laboratories to ensure that the dates that will be on display at the festival are free from traces and remains of chemical insecticides.
The festival aims to further improve the marketing of locally produced dates in addition to encouraging farmers to improve the quality of their production and reduce waste in the production process.
