* MoPH updates new travel policy
All unvaccinated minors arriving in Qatar are exempted from hotel quarantine if their parents are fully inoculated with a vaccine approved by Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), according to an update announced by the ministry yesterday to the new travel policy coming into effect on July 12.
This applies to Qataris, residents and GCC nationals, the updated document (https://covid19.moph.gov.qa/EN/travel-and-return-policy/Documents/travel_briefing_eng.pdf) shows.
Yesterday’s announcement revises the policy announced on Thursday, when the MoPH had said unvaccinated children aged 12-17 years would be required to do quarantine as per the procedure assigned to the country of departure. In case of hotel quarantine, they were to be accompanied by one parent, even if the latter was vaccinated. Children from 0-11 years were to follow the same entry regime of their parents. If the latter were vaccinated, the children were also to be considered as vaccinated.
According to yesterday’s update, in the category of Qataris, residents and GCC nationals, children aged 0-17 years will be subject to home quarantine for 10 days if arriving from Red List countries with fully vaccinated parents, and for seven days if coming from Yellow List countries, also with fully vaccinated parents.
For those coming from Green List countries, minors aged 0-11 years old and travelling with their fully vaccinated parents are exempted from quarantine, while children aged 12-17 years are subject to home quarantine for five days.
According to related information available on the MoPH website, the following groups of people are exempted from hotel quarantine:
• Vaccinated individuals who received their second dose in Qatar and have not completed the specified period of 14 days from the date of the second dose are home quarantined for seven days or until they complete the duration of 14 days following the second dose, whichever is shorter.
• Unvaccinated individuals aged 75 years and above are home quarantined with one escort from the same household.
• Pregnant women returning to the country with their vaccinated husbands, or a vaccinated relative from the same household.
• Lactating mothers and their infants aged two years and below returning to the country with their vaccinated husbands or a vaccinated relative from the same household.
• Unvaccinated patients treated abroad at the expense of the State with one escort from the same household. This applies after assessing the patient’s health condition by the relevant department at the MoPH.
The abovementioned groups must sign an undertaking showing their compliance with the home quarantine measures. For minors, their parents or guardian shall sign the undertaking affirming their children’s compliance with the home quarantine regulations.
