* Registration remains mandatory for visitors
Pre-registration on the Ehteraz platform is now optional for citizens and residents arriving in Qatar but remains mandatory for visitors, the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has announced.
"To ease the precautionary measures previously announced for those entering Qatar, the MoPH announced that registration on the Ehteraz platform is now optional for citizens and residents, while registration and obtaining prior approval remains mandatory for visitors," the ministry tweeted on Tuesday.
Speaking to Qatar TV on this issue on Tuesday, Hamad General Hospital medical director Dr Yousef al-Maslamani said pre-registration through Ehteraz (http://ehteraz.gov.qa) was launched to ease the procedures for those arriving in Qatar and provide an easier travel experience by enabling them to upload all related information and documents, such as vaccination certificates, PCR test results and other relevant data, on the platform. This was done so that travellers do not have to wait in queues to get their documents checked upon arrival at the airport in Doha, he said.
When they register on Ehteraz and get the necessary approval, they can board the aircraft smoothly and go directly to the Immigration counters after arriving at the airport.
However, as some travellers faced some difficulties in the registration process, this would no longer be a mandatory requirement for Qataris as well as expatriates from now, Dr al-Maslamani said. Registration through Ehteraz continues to be mandatory for visitors.
Though not compulsory for citizens and residents any more, Dr al-Maslamani strongly advised people to pre-register on Ehteraz as this would ease entry procedures at the airport in Qatar. He also said work is under way to link Ehteraz with the e-gates.
The PCR test is also a mandatory requirement for entry into the country for all travelers, including Qataris and expatriates.
The Government Communications Office tweeted about the revised rule following yesterday's MoPH announcement, saying:
"The State of Qatar has launched a pre-registration platform to expedite entry into the country. It is mandatory for all visitors, and optional for Qatari citizens and residents, to register on the platform prior to their arrival: http://ehteraz.gov.qa"
