Top officials visit site of new Doha hospital

Senior business leaders made an official visit on Tuesday to the project site of The View Hospital, which is on track to open in August next year.
The View Hospital will be operated by Elegancia Healthcare, in affiliation with Cedars-Sinai, the internationally renowned healthcare group based in Los Angeles, US.
The state-of-the-art 242-bed facility, spanning approximately 101,000sq m, is situated in Al Qutaifiya, neighbouring The Pearl-Qatar, overlooking Katara and the skyline of Doha.
Representatives from Cedars-Sinai and Elegancia Healthcare toured the construction site, which included a presentation of the design concept and renderings of the hospital.The delegation discussed the features, departments and The View’s facilities.
The 15-storey hospital will offer a comprehensive range of medical services and facilities, including 12 intensive care units, eight critical care units, 11 neo-natal intensive care units, and six labour, delivery and recovery rooms.
The façade of the hospital integrates LED technology to produce an effect of flowing water – a welcoming sight for patients seeking quality healthcare, according to a press statement.
The visiting team comprised Elegancia Healthcare Chief Executive Bassam Sayad and Bryan Croft, the Cedars-Sinai Senior Vice-President of Operations, as well as Dr Georges Feghali, Interim Chief Medical Officer/Medical Adviser, and Sean Collins, Executive Director for Facilities, Planning, Design and Construction.
Sayad said: “We are delighted to partner with Cedars-Sinai in this important project, which will encourage knowledge-sharing and collaboration across international borders.”
“The global (coronavirus, Covid-19) pandemic has, of course, been a huge challenge, but our fantastic team has used all their experience and skills to make sure the project is on track to welcome its first patients next year,” he said.
Croft noted: "We have appreciated these three days of productive discussions. We look forward to our continued collaboration as we work to improve healthcare delivery that will benefit the people of Qatar and the region.”
Elegancia Group Vice-Chairman Ramez al-Khayyat said: “We are excited to collaborate on this important initiative with Cedars-Sinai.”“As the Ministry of Public Health expands the role of private healthcare, The View will directly contribute to quality healthcare for the Qatari community,” he said. “Covid-19 has highlighted how much we all rely on our doctors and nurses.”
“We want to support our medical practitioners and help them work to the very best of their abilities,” al-Khayyat added. “The View provides them with the modern facilities to do just that.”
The View Hospital is an upcoming state-of-the-art facility in the prestigious Al Qutaifiya area, in the vicinity of Lusail, Katara, and The Pearl-Qatar, scheduled to open in 2022.
"It will define the future of healthcare delivery in Qatar and the region by combining clinical excellence and patient-centred care,” the statement notes. “It will also provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient programmes, with specialised clinical centres equipped with the latest technology."
