The inauguration of United Architects of the Philippines-Qatar Chapter's (UAP-QA) new board of directors for fiscal year 2021-2022, which took place earlier this month, marked the traditional yet new normal turnover of duties and responsibilities.
The induction rites of the new committee heads, committee members and new chapter members, saw huge participation.
The new board of directors is made up of Marvin M Tejada, UAP Chapter president; Janel S Hipolito, UAP vice-president, programmes & development; Jayson Z Santos, vice-president, operations; Kathleen B Osio-Arevalo, Chapter secretary; Leah D C Bianan, Chapter treasurer; Melani S Ramos, Chapter auditor; Carmelita G Flores, director, professional development; Maria Michaela A Pasiona, director, internal affairs; Ferdinand Magpantay, director, external and governmental affairs; Melanie V Sandicho, director, professional practice; and Joan P De Guzman, director, education/Arkitekturang Filipino.
Important highlights of the first part of the programme were the welcome remarks by outgoing Chapter auditor Kriz Samed Quiogue, the acknowledgment of guests by outgoing Chapter secretary Farrahnel delos Reyes, introduction of the guest speaker by outgoing Chapter treasurer Roberto C Santiano, and introduction of the keynote speaker by the Chapter vice-president for programmes and development, Janel S Hipolito.
The guest speaker was PPO-Q chairman Adonis Q Talabo while the keynote speaker was labour attache Adam A Musa of POLO-OWWA Qatar.
The second part of the programme started with the valedictory address by UAP Qatar Chapter outgoing president Mario Herman M Macaranas. After the address, the new Chapter officers were presented to the national president by secretary-general Jonathan V Manalad, which was then followed by the charging of the new Chapter officers.
Finally, the officers were inducted into office by UAP national president Armando Eugene C De Guzman III.
Regional district A4 director Markel Cesar A Luna presided over the turnover of the gavel and acceptance ceremony between Macaranas and Tejada.
The induction rites and turnover ceremonies saw the inaugural address delivered by Tejada, the first-ever transfer member to be elected as UAP Qatar Chapter president and ninth among the list of Chapter presidents of UAP Qatar so far.
For his visions to become a reality, the new Chapter president sought the help of all members to support the board of directors of the UAP Qatar Chapter for the fiscal 2021-2022.
He outlined his agenda to focus on programmes and plans that would help realise the full potential of architects as professionals. Tejada also appealed to the Chapter members to support the UAP's national corporate thrust.
The third part of the programme featured the induction rites of the committee heads, committee members and new Chapter members, which were presented by Chapter secretary Osio-Arevalo. The charging rites were officiated by Hipolito, which was followed by the induction of new members officiated by Tejada.
The last part of the programme was the testimonial, inspirational messages by distinguished guests and closing ceremonies.
Chapter treasurer Bianan introduced the regional district A4 director to give his special inspirational message. Osio-Arevalo, on the other hand, introduced UAP past national president Benjamin K Panganiban Jr for his message.
Meanwhile, Chapter vice-president for operations Santos introduced UAP national secretary-general Manalad to give his talk. The UAP national executive vice-president, Richard M Garcia, was introduced by Hipolito for another inspirational message.
Finally, the guest of honour, UAP national president De Guzman III, was introduced by Chapter president Tejada, for his important organisational address.
The Chapter president read the recognition and presentation of certificates of appreciation to the UAP national board of directors, along with the UAP past national president and the regional district A4 director.
After this, a video montage showcasing UAP Qatar Chapter through the years was screened via Zoom. Also, the Chapter president read the citation and presentation of certificates of appreciation to UAP Qatar Chapter COMELEC and the UAP Qatar Chapter Board of Directors FY 2020-2021 for their meritorious service.
UAP Qatar Chapter membership care committee head Dawne Rosario G Brown was given a slot to announce their upcoming activities in relation to membership care concerns. The closing remarks were delivered by the UAP Qatar Chapter vice-president for operations, Santos.
"In fiscal 2021-2022, we are expecting immense changes for the UAP Qatar Chapter. The new Chapter board of directors made it their primary thrust to unfailingly put members first to help them progress and succeed," UAP-QA said in a statement.
