Tulukoota Qatar organised the finals of the third season of the Inter Organisation Badminton Tournament on July 9 at Cambridge School.
The two-day event featured eight Karnataka-based organisations: KSQ, KMCA, KMCA, SKMWA, MCC, BUNTS Qatar, MCA, Qatar BILLAWAS and host Tulukoota Qatar.
A total of 105 players from these organisations participated in the tournament with "true sportsmanship and spirit".
The tournament had categories ranging from young kids to senior adults above 60 who played with utmost enthusiasm.
Dr Mohan Thomas, president, Indian Sports Centre (ISC), graced the event as chief guest of the closing ceremony and gave away the championship trophy to the winning team, Tulukoota Qatar.
Other dignitaries present on the occasion were managing committee members of the Indian Community Benevolent Forum and ISC.
Chidanand Naik, general manager of M Pallonji Qatar - the event sponsor, was the guest of honour.
Platinum sponsors of the event were Safari Hypermarket, Care n Cure, Black Olive restaurant and Fabricast, while representatives of the Gold and Associate sponsors were also present on the occasion.
Chaitali Uday Shetty, president, Tulukoota, welcomed everyone and presided over the event. She thanked the Karnataka-based organisations for participating in the tournament.
She also acknowledged the sponsors and presented them with a token of gratitude along with a snake plant, which was an initiative launched during the environment drive that started last month for which the Indian Cultural Centre recognised Tulukoota as the best among all the participating organisations.
Tulukoota lifted the championship trophy with 120 points, while last season's champions MCC were the runners-up with 35 points.
Chandrashekhar Shetty, sports secretary, Tulukoota, proposed the vote of thanks.
