In the colours of Al Shaqab Racing, Fowairet (FR) (TM Fred Texas x Balica De Faust) opened her scorecard in the Prix des Sables-Wathba Stallions Cup, a conditions race for Purebred Arabians aged 4 and over at Pompadour, France, on Sunday.
Trained by Charles Gourdain, Fowairet was making her belated seasonal bow. She ran four times as a 3YO and was placed once. This time, she dropped back in trip in this race, over 1,700m, having only run over 2,000m or further previously.
Under jockey Maxime Foulon, the four-year-old filly sat in second behind the pacemaker Horjamne (FR) (Dormane x Cahrein) throughout. She then came to take the lead just before the final bend on the tight turning track and once in the home straight the Fowairet galloped out well to hold off her rivals, winning comfortably by three-fourth of a length in front of the JF Bernard-trained and Tom Pauquet-ridden Halwicha De Bozouls (FR) (Mahabb x Jidwicha De Bozouls) with the Eric Dell’ova-trained and Jordan Plateaux Horjamne-ridden coming in third as he was further three-fourth of a length behind the runner-up.
By Al Shaqab Racing’s Purebred Arabian sire TM Fred Texas, Fowairet was also bred by Al Shaqab Racing. Her dam, Balica De Faust, was placed on multiple occasions in Qatar.
