We have witnessed with great joy how a country, small in territory but large within the international community, has achieved in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, two gold medals, first places, in sports disciplines that require a life time of dedication and sacrifices in order to reach that magical moment of triumph.
Taking part in the Olympic Games, as in old ancient Greece, is an absolute honour to which only those classified and selected by their own efforts and by those designs of a Supreme Being represent their own nations with pride.
Thus, these legends make not only their families proud but make an entire nation happy as is the case with Qatar, where we have spent a part of our lives in the most desired way.
We acknowledge and congratulate these athletes who knew how to jump the fence regardless of the current circumstances that the world is facing with limited freedom.
Receiving these Olympic medals makes Qatar a leading Arab country representing not only the Gulf region but also the rest of all Arab nations. In addition, with these spectacular sports achievements, Qatar and its citizens are ready to welcome the rest of the world for one of the biggest events in 2022, the FIFA World Cup.
We are fully assured that all efforts, dedication, perseverance, commitment, constant training and sacrifice lead to better results and well deserved rewards as demonstrated by the two great Qatari champions Fares Ibrahim and Mutaz Essa Barshim, who won the gold medals and honourably represented their country, Qatar.
On the other hand, behind these great athletes, there is a whole support team, whom we also must recognise and congratulate at the same time encouraging them to continue working tirelessly on these admirable competitive projects, under the leadership of the Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani.
Achieving such victory can only see the light through a set of efforts, constant support from the team and the loved ones as well as the existence of faith and perseverance.
The Qatari winners are and will be an example for the new generations and will reward even more the lands that have seen them born and grow.
I end this brief testimony, repeating that sport is a significant factor in the making of a great country.
In addition, we would like to take this opportunity to thank Qatar for helping our Peruvian athletes in the past to compete in various competitions in Doha, and look forward to signing a co-operation agreement in the sports field.
