Al Shamal Municipality's Health Control Section carried out 317 regular inspection tours on various food outlets and organisations under its jurisdiction in the month of July. A number of violation reports according to law no 9 for 1990 on the regulation of human food control were issued. The health inspectors had intensified work and focused on the automated slaughterhouse and the fish market at Al Ruwais, where 698 livestock carcasses were examined and 10 destroyed in addition to 44kg meat for being unsuitable for human consumption. Three food samples were sent to the central laboratories for the related food safety and health tests. As many as 57,100kg of fish were examined and 62kg destroyed. The inspection team further followed up on the implementation of the preventive measures against the spread of Covid-19 at the food retailers within the municipality's limits.
