The headquarters of the constituencies have seen a considerable turnout of Qatari citizens to submit their grievances and objections on the preliminary lists of eligible voters for the upcoming Shura Council elections, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported on Friday.
The deadline for the process is today (Saturday) noon. A number of Qatari citizens told the daily about the importance of actively participating in the Shura Council elections, described as a historic moment in the positive transformation and progress of the country and its people. They pointed out that the candidates who would start their nomination process tomorrow (Sunday) would have great challenges ahead of them as they have to convince the voters that they are the right choice, given the fact that this is a unique and new experience in the country.Ibrahim al-Mohannadi said that extending the work of the voting centres to receive the grievances and objection applications indicates the keenness of the state to widen popular participation in the elections and make the upcoming council truly represent the various segments of citizens in the country.Ali al-Emadi said that he had to go submit an objection application because he had not received a message indicating his registration at the preliminary lists of voters. He said that the process was very easy took only a few minutes. He noted that both the government and citizens are very keen to make the upcoming elections a success and people want to play an active and positive role in a council that would reflect their choices.Abdulaziz Mohamed said that he was outside the country when the process of registration started so he had to submit a grievance application to be included in the lists of voters. When he submitted all the necessary documents, he immediately received a message affirming his registration for the voting process. He stressed that he sees the participation in the Shura Council elections as a national duty for Qataris and the success of the process highly depends on the good choices of the candidates. Misfar al-Marri added that many people who submitted the necessary documents alongside their grievances and objection applications have received messages affirming the registration as qualified voters for the upcoming elections.
