A Bangladeshi socio-cultural organisation under the banner of 'Matir Tane' (endearment of soil) has been formed in Qatar. All the attendees at the event had received both doses of Covid-19 vaccine, a statement said.
Bangladesh Community Qatar (BCQ) president engineer Anwar Hossain Akon, the chief guest, announced a 51-member committee with Asaduzzaman Sikder as president, Al Amin Hawlader as general secretary and Sajib Mullah as organising secretary.
Matir Tane, based in Madaripur, a central district in Bangladesh, part of the Dhaka Division, focuses on activities including sports, blood donation, plantation, and helping people affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
BCQ joint general secretary Nur Mohamed was the keynote speaker.
Rafiqul Islam Helal, Aminul Islam, Syed Ana Meah, Mohamed Belayet Hossain, Mohamed Al Amin Mulla, Ruhul Amin Howlader were among the special guests.
The meeting was presided over by Mahmudul Hasan.
