HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs, Saad Sherida al-Kaabi, also the president and chief executive officer of Qatar Petroleum, will join a stellar line-up of government ministers and energy industry leaders speaking at Gastech, the world’s foremost exhibition and conference supporting the gas, LNG, hydrogen, and energy industry.

Taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre, from September 21 to 23, Gastech will be the first time, since the Covid-19 pandemic began, the industry will have met face-to-face to discuss the future of energy.

Following the official welcome address by Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, United Arab Emirates, and managing director and Group CEO, ADNOC Group, al-Kaabi will participate in the ‘Opening Ministerial Panel’, which will share insights into the role of natural gas in the energy transition, the hydrogen economy and what actions are needed to meet the growing demand for energy and cleaner fuels.

Al-Kaabi will be joined in the panel session by Suhail Mohamed al-Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, United Arab Emirates; Fatih Dönmez, Minister of Energy & Natural Resources, Turkey; Arifin Tasrif, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Indonesia; and Mohammad Barkindo Sanusi, Secretary-General, OPEC.

Christopher Hudson, president, dmg events, organisers of Gastech, said: “At Gastech’s Opening Ministerial Panel, ministers from the world’s leading energy economies will provide unique insights into the government policies shaping the gas, LNG, hydrogen, and energy industry’s decarbonisation journey, as well as the important role that public-private collaboration and cooperation will play in creating the world’s sustainability agenda.”

Other energy ministers speaking during Gastech’s influential three-days strategic conference programme include Hala Adel Zawati, Jordan’s Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources; German Galushchenko, Ukraine’s Minister of Energy; Chief Timipre Sylva, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources; João Galamba, Portugal’s State Secretary for Energy; Udaya Gammanpila, Sri Lanka’s Minister of Energy and Parviz Shahbazov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy.

Key pillars include tackling the challenges of methane, decarbonisation, AI and digital, consumer demand, and ‘mission critical’ market trends for achieving net-zero carbon emissions.

Gastech, which will be attended by 15,000 energy industry professionals, will be held under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and is supported by the UAE’s Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure.

Co-hosted by ADNOC, Shell, and Venture Global LNG, it will provide a platform for senior decision-makers and energy industry thought leaders to debate and share knowledge on the industry’s mission to provide a carbon neutral, affordable energy future, for all, by 2050.
