The Kozhikode Jilla Pravasi Association Qatar (KPAQ) - Media One Onapoothalam Mega Pookkalam Contest was conducted recently as part of the Onam celebrations in Qatar.
The competition witnessed a variety of colourful floral decorations along with the participation of well-known cultural organisations in Qatar.
Feroke Pravasi Association Qatar won the first place with a cash prize of QR2,501. The second place was taken by FCC Women’s Toastmasters and third place by Anria Ladies along with cash prizes of QR1,501 and QR1,001, respectively.
The competition was held at the Pearl Modern School, Mashaf, in two sections in compliance with the Covid-19 protocol, the organisers said in a statement.
KPAQ officials, executive members and sponsors led the event and handed over prizes to the winners as well as mementos and gift items to all participants. They are as follows: Vasu Vanimal, president, KPAQ/programme committee chairman; Gafoor Calicut, general secretary, KPAQ/programme committee convener; Basant, country manager, Emami 7 Oils; Nishanth Tharamel, marketing manager, Media One; Shaji Peevees and Rayees Hameed, vice-presidents; Bharath Ananth and Rajilesh A V, joint secretaries; Shameer K P and Ravi Pudukkudi, advisory board members; Femi Gafoor, women’s wing convener; Krishnakumar, arts wing convener; Shoukath, sports wing convener; Razak, managing director, Rotana Valet and Limousine; Vibin Kumar, marketing manager, Grand Mall Hypermarket, and P C Saifudeen, Media One TV Qatar in-charge.
Mahesh Kumar, Prem Chokli and Sudheeran Prayar made up the judging panel of the Mega Pookkalam Contest.
Emami 7 Oils was the main sponsor of the event with Radio Malayalam 98.6 FM as the radio partner and Al Zaheem Events as the event partner.
