Indian expatriate Linto Thomas was honoured by the Angamali NRI Association (Anria) in Qatar recently in recognition of his contributions to society. He was also granted a lifetime membership to Anria Qatar. After delivering an "emotional and moving" 10-minute speech on his life story, Anria Qatar president Joy K Paul handed over a memento to Thomas in the presence of the Executive Committee members, including Vinod Kumar (secretary), Biju Kanjoor (treasurer), Augustine Kallookaran (vice-president), Joy Jose (joint secretary) and Malayatoor co-ordinators Shimmy Varghese and Linson Jacob. Thomas hails from Malayatoor, near Angamaly in Kerala, India. His story went viral recently in which he offered to ferry underprivileged jobseekers for free to various parts of Doha. After recalling the difficult times he endured when he first landed in Qatar 13 years ago, he is now helping others in similar situations in his free time, through whatever means possible.
