The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has inaugurated Qatar's pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, taking place from Oct 1, 2021, until March 31, 2022, under the slogan: "Connecting Minds, Creating the Future".In a statement on the occasion, HE the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Sultan bin Rashid al-Khater said that the pavilion, themed: 'Qatar: The Future is Now', was a distinguished platform for strengthening commercial, industrial, and investment co-operation relations with the various countries participating in the exhibition, adding that buttressing such relations contribute to supporting the economic sectors that serve Qatar's development trends, including the industry, trade, and tourism sectors.HE al-Khater added that Qatar was keen, during its participation in this year's international Expo, to shed light on the development that has been achieved in all fields, especially in terms of national industries, the digital transformation of government services, and various creativity and innovation fields, expressing his confidence that the pavilion would be distinguished, iconic, and a source of inspiration for all visitors.After the inauguration ceremony, HE the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry toured Qatar's pavilion, during which he was briefed on the most prominent pioneering mega projects that have been completed within the framework of the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the preparations for hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup, as well as the developmental achievements made by the country in various fields.HE al-Khater visited GCC countries' pavilions, during which he was briefed on their advantages and the most prominent services and projects previewed.For his part, General Commissioner of the Qatar Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai Nasser bin Mohamed al-Muhannadi explained that the country's march towards achieving the Qatar National Vision 2030 was highlighted, in addition to shedding light on the incentives and investment opportunities provided by the State to implement its economic diversification plans, as per the Qatar Second National Development Strategy 2018- 2022.Spread over about 960sq m, with a built-up area of 620sq m, Qatar's pavilion includes two main galleries and exhibition spaces showcasing Qatar's history and culture, using the latest virtual reality technologies.Qatar's pavilion reflects a number of sub-themes of Expo 2020 Dubai's main slogan referring to sustainability, mobility, and opportunities, aligning with Qatar's present and future vision and outlook.Through its participation in Expo 2020 Dubai, Qatar seeks to consolidate its role as a safe and leading global hub for tourism and business and to highlight national efforts to preserve national resources by investing in sustainable development and environmental protection, in addition to constructing green buildings to support the growth of human capital.Additionally, the State aims to review its efforts to lead and stimulate innovation in science and technology in a way that supports future sustainable development in Qatar.It also seeks to highlight its initiatives that stimulate creativity by supporting and endorsing artistic and cultural works that would bolster bridges of communication between all countries worldwide.
