Doha Metro and public transport services will operate at 75% of their capacity from Sunday, October 3. The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC) said this in a statement on social media, in line with the announcement made by the Cabinet on Wednesday regarding the easing of Covid-19 measures in Qatar from Sunday.
"As new decisions are taken to gradually lift Covid-19 curbs and to protect the safety and well-being of all, it's been decided that as of October 3, Metro and public transit services will continue to operate seven days a week at a capacity not exceeding 75%," the MoTC said. The services will operate taking into account the following restrictions:
* Allowing entry only to those with the green status on the Ehteraz app and those who wear medical facemasks.
* Banning smoking at the entrances of different modes of public transit and following the instructions given on posters.
* Banning eating and drinking inside stations and on the public transit system.
These measures can be modified and updated based on developments and the situation on the ground, the ministry has said.
In a related announcement on its Doha Metro & Lusail Tram Twitter account, Qatar Rail said : "In accordance with the government announcement on the phased lifting of Covid-19 precautionary measures, we are pleased to announce that Metro, metrolink and metroexpress services will operate at 75% capacity from Sunday, October 3, 2021."
