HE the Assistant Foreign Minister and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lolwah bint Rashid AlKhater Saturday held separate meetings in Washington with US Acting Assistant Secretary Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labour Lisa Peterson, Senior Official for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs Jennifer Hall Godfrey, US senior official of Global Women's Issues Office Katrina Fotovat and US senior official of International Religious Freedom Office Daniel Nadel, QNA reported.



The meetings dealt with bilateral co-operation, particularly on Afghanistan and facilitating the process of travel to and from the country. They also dealt with security, political, and economic conditions in Afghanistan. There was agreement on the importance of maintaining humanitarian support to the Afghan people, the importance of enhancing the right to education to all in the Afghan society, and working to protect women's rights in the country. The meetings also dealt with the diplomatic efforts between Qatar and the US, including the projects that could take place in the framework of the Qatar-US Year of Culture 2021.
The officials also welcomed the Shura Council elections taking place in Qatar, describing it as a good step for the state.
