Qatar citizens hail Shura polls' success

The success of the Shura Council elections on Saturday, is considered a great achievement for Qatar and its people, establishing a new phase for more development and popular participation at the level of decision-making.

The Qatari people considered the event as a festival to celebrate democracy and achievement and the joy of success was not limited to the 30 winners, as they considered that all the people of Qatar are winners with such exemplary elections that were held in a highly organised and peaceful manner. In the meantime, the Qatari people stressed that the elected members have a huge task ahead to establish the democratic practices in the country and pave the way for the upcoming generations to enhance such practices with the passage of time, which would certainly reflect positively on all the fields, locally and internationally.Speaking to local Arabic daily Arrayah about the experience of the Shura Council elections, a number of Qatari citizens stressed that they are perfectly happy and satisfied, and consider it as a source of national pride.Abdulaziz Ali al-Mannai pointed out that the election process was smooth with many people keen to vote and be part of such a historic day.Hussein Ali al-Kubaisi said he is looking forward to seeing the upcoming Shura Council members tackle issues that concern young people the most such as employment of Qataris and benefiting from qualified individuals to spearhead the progress of development in the country.He further stressed the need for all Shura Council members to work together collaboratively to turn their election pledges into realities that will improve the lives of the people.Eid Saad al-Dossari said he was keen, like others, to take part in the voting process as these elections are considered a historic event. He pointed out that it is a new experience for people, describing it as very positive. The people were highly enthusiastic to take part, he added.Youssef Mubarak al-Mehizaa said he believes that all the people of Qatar were the winners at the elections, as both voters and candidates agree that serving the country and its people is their prime goal. He further appreciated the great support of the entities concerned that had conducted the election process in such an excellent manner.
