Travellers from Qatar who have been fully vaccinated with any of the Qatar-administered Covid-19 vaccines are now exempted from quarantine upon arrival in England.
The Qatari embassy in London informed this through a post on social media, noting that the UK recognises Qatar-administered Covid-19 vaccines with effect from October 4.
The UK has revised its country classification system, with the traffic light system (red, amber and green) making way for a single red list and all other countries. Qatar is not on the red list.
Those who are travelling to the UK from a non-red list country, and eligible under the 'Fully Vaccinated' rules, have to take a Covid-19 test on the second day after their arrival in the country.
The vaccines approved by the UK are Oxford/AstraZeneca, Pfizer BioNTech, Moderna and Janssen. For Qatar, the proof of full inoculation is the vaccine certificate.
The Qatari embassy has explained the ‘Fully Vaccinated Rules’ with an accompanying infographic:
* Before you travel to England you must:
- Book and pay for a Day 2 Covid-19 test to be taken after arrival in England
- Complete a passenger locator form
(You must take the Covid-19 test on Day 2 after arrival in England)
* Children of all ages (up to 18 years) who are residents in the UK or a country with an approved vaccination programme do not have to quarantine. Children aged between five and 17 must take the Day 2 Covid-19 test.
* If you do not qualify under the 'Fully Vaccinated Rules', then before you travel to England you must:
- Take a Covid-19 test – to be taken in the three days before you travel to England
- Book and pay for Day 2 and Day 8 Covid-19 tests – to be taken after arrival in England
- Complete a passenger locator form – to be completed in the 48 hours before you arrive in England
