Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB) has received “Appreciation for Innovation in Digital Banking” award from Visa for its continuous efforts in providing enhanced digital solutions to cardholders through the mobile banking application and internet banking platforms.
“Our ongoing focus and investment in upgrading our mobile banking services offers customers a secure and easy banking experience. We stay committed to developing the digital banking scene in Qatar and the region,” said Bassel Gamal, QIB Group chief executive.
As part of its ongoing journey to enhance its mobile banking services and provide more flexibility to its cardholders, QIB has succeeded in providing the most frequently used card features via the mobile app including the instant credit card application and approval and instant temporary limit increase.
Over the past 24 months, QIB has added many new card features to its mobile app offering exceptional customer convenience.
QIB has previously collaborated with Visa, to provide Visa Transaction Control (VTC), to give QIB Visa credit cardholders more control, safety and security over their cards through the app.
Through this innovative feature, customers can at any time activate/deactivate their cards and choose which kind of transactions to allow to be performed – POS transactions, ATM transactions, online transactions and global transactions, giving them full control over their cards functionality.
QIB has discontinued the paper PIN and provided the customer with the option to activate a new card and generate a PIN through the app. Customers who are travelling abroad can activate their card magstripe through the QIB mobile app to targeted countries for specific periods as well as request supplementary cards or replace existing cards.
Andrew Torre, Visa’s regional president for Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEMEA), said Visa and QIB are committed to helping Visa cardholders access the digital economy through delivery of our best in class secure digital payment solutions.
"We recognise QIB’s solid efforts in enhancing its payment products portfolio and we are delighted to see them as the first in Qatar to offer VTC to our cardholders,” he said.
