* MADLSA to provide 29 shops for productive families at The Pearl-Qatar for free
The Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs (MADLSA) has announced the provision of shops for productive families in the 'Community Markets' project at The Pearl-Qatar. The ministry on Saturday said the project was nearing completion and would serve productive families and home-based businesses at The Pearl-Qatar. The project is being implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs and United Development Company (UDC).
The 'Community Markets' project aims to provide multiple outlets for productive families free of charge. It will include 29 shops for selling sweets, traditional foods, traditional clothes, abayas and perfumes, as well as restaurants and others, Qatar News Agency reports.
In addition, the project includes a social development centre to train productive families in handicrafts and on the best practices to enable and encourage them to establish their own companies, thus contributing to enhancing the economic and social development and prosperity of Qatar.
Selection of beneficiaries of the project will be done through a lottery, which will be attended by representatives from the MADLSA, the Endowments Department of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and UDC.
The MADLSA will reveal all project details, the registration and selection mechanism, as well as controls for the use of the designated stores in the coming weeks.
Through this project, the MADLSA seeks to develop an integrated system of services and support the promotion of economic activities carried out by productive families, through community markets that serve as an incubator to support home-based businesses.
