Emerging artist Noof al-Naama inaugurates murals on Qatar national identity at DPS-MIS

The Qatar National Identity Zone – Historia Art Collective at DPS Modern Indian School was inaugurated by the emerging Qatari artist Noof al-Naama recently in the school premises adhering to Covid– 19 mandates. The mural gallery is an initiative of the Department of Qatar History and Department of Art.
Inaugurating the mural gallery, and addressing the audience, al-Naama, a student at VCUarts Qatar and the granddaughter of pioneering Qatari artist Jassem Zaini stressed how art inspires her, and recalled her grandfather’s words, “Keep drawing, no matter what”. She also stressed that young students must not halt in the face of struggles and challenges, but must keep pushing through obstacles to strive for their passion and goals. The young artist appreciated the art integrated mode of learning at the school.Four art teachers who brought to life the heritage sites, architectural marvels, and the scenic skyline of Doha, though their painted murals, were honoured with certificates of appreciation by the chief guest. Principal Asna Nafees, vice president Yasir Nainar and other senior officials were present. Junior School head girl Inshirah Akthar compered the event, while head boy Sanjeev Sundararaj welcomed the guests. Handcrafted exhibits of various heritage sites and landmarks of Qatar, students dressed in traditional Qatari attire and an Indo – Arab fusion dance embellished the event.
