Under the patronage of HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al-Thani, Chairman of the Security Committee for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) announced that the security authorities in Qatar will organize “Watan” exercise from November 15 to 17 to test the readiness and integration of tasks and duties to guarantee a secure hosting of sports events held in Qatar.

“As part of the ongoing preparations for hosting the World FIFA Cup 2022, the security entities in the country are conducting Watan exercise from November 15 to 17 aiming at testing the readiness and integration of tasks and duties to guarantee a secure hosting of the sports events held in Qatar,” MoI said in a statement on Twitter.

The ministry added that the exercise is considered the largest of its type with regards to the participating entities internally and externally.

 

“It also covers the security, military, organisational and services aspects with varied scenarios according to the possible external and internal risks during the FIFA World Cup based on a study by experts and specialists in the related fields,” MoI said.

A number countries are participating in the exercise with military forces with different and varied tasks. This includes France, Italy, Portugal, USA, UK, Kuwait, Pakistan, Jordan, Turkey, Spain, Germany, Ireland and Russia.
