Qatar’s swimming team won nine medals (3 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze) at Arab swimming championship for all age groups in the short course (25 metres) in Abu Dhabi. A total of 174 swimmers from 16 countries are participating in the event. Tamim Mohamed won gold in the 100m butterfly in the 14-15 year category; Mohamed Mahmoud topped the field in 200m medley (16-18 year category). Later the relay team consisting of Youssef Hassan, Karim Salah, Omar Hassan and Mohamed Mahmoud won gold in the 4x50m free race for 16-18 years old. Abdulaziz al-Obaidli won silver medal in the 200-metre medley race for the 19 years and above category, with Omar Hassan picking up a silver in 16-18 years category. Tamim Mohamed won bronze in the 50m backstroke for the 14-15-year-old category, while Youssef Hassan also won the bronze medal for the same race in the 16-18-year-old category. Karim Mohamed took bronze medal in the 1500-metre freestyle for the 16-18-year-old category.
