Qatar International Arts Festival (QIAF) 2021, which concluded recently, was the bouquet of eight diverse artistic events and activities including cultural tour, art exhibition, live painting symposium, artistic fashion show and master classes.
The event was organised by MAPS International in collaboration with Katara - The Cultural Village. The third edition of QIAF, started in 2018 by MAPS founder and president Rashmi Aggarwal, saw over 300 artists from 65 countries participating.
The 5-day QIAF was inaugurated by Katara general manager Prof Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti in the presence of a galaxy of dignitaries including diplomats of a number of countries.
“This event is the outcome of a dedicated team, which includes all Katara team and participating artists," Aggarwal said. The day-long cultural tour saw the artists visiting destinations including the National Museum of Qatar, Al Shaqab, Souq Waqif.
The master classes were by Abdulla Yousef al-Mulla (Qatar), Linnea Kathyrn Pergola (US), Masih Ahmad Ahmadi, Masoumeh Jahanbin Shalkouhi (Iran), Majd Mohamed Ramadan (Lebanon) and Ionnis Kaiserlis (Greece).
The evening of the third day at QIAF 2021 was filled with cultural and folkloric music performances. Opening performance of Sufi Ney Flute by Neyzen Sinan Soyler from Turkey was followed by Indian classical and folk performances presented as part of the festivities of the 75th anniversary of Indian independence.
The artistic fashion show, yet another highlight, was held in a courtyard at Katara. The closing ceremony was hosted by Yashvii Aggarwal, daughter of Rashmi Aggarwal. All event ambassadors, gallery partners, and artists were awarded with mementos and certificates.
Katara was given QIAF Partner Award. In the second category, awards were given to several QIAF brand ambassadors from various countries and regions. In the QIAF Gallery Partner category, the awards went to Arame Art Gallery, Gallery 2+, American University Beirut for Seniors, Bingyol's Armenian Auction House, Art Guest Agency, Funun Arts, and Minoo Art Group.
