Qatar University (QU) Writers' Club recently organised a workshop on Fictional World Building. The resource person was author and QU's director of Communications and Public Relations Kummam al-Maadeed.
Kummam introduced the students to storytelling fundamentals. “It is very important to have such clubs that nurture talent by giving them resources and workshop opportunities. I’m very proud of QU students and their enthusiasm about literary writing,” she said.
Mohammed Amjad Abdushakkoor, QU Writer's Club president, explained that al-Maadeed provided an interesting workshop. "She started by introducing the attendees to storytelling fundamentals. Then, she moved on to why authors should maintain a great mental state. Her take on researching and building fictional worlds was insightful and engaging.
“The students were allowed to ask questions during the session which cleared the doubts regarding the topics. The session ended with a discussion regarding editing and publishing," he added.
QU Writer's Club is made for ensuring the growth of young writers from students. The club organises events, workshops and contests to get the best out of the future writers.
