Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, participates in the 1st International Al-Farghani Physics Olympiad (IAFPhO 2021), held in Uzbekistan, under the auspices of the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation (OIC). The Olympiad with the participation of 18 OIC member states will run until Nov 13, and Qatar will participate through video conference technology.
The Olympiad aims to contribute to raising the scientific level of students in physics, discovering outstanding students in physics, developing and refining their abilities, helping students to identify their scientific orientations and determine their future goals.
The Olympiad consists of two rounds, includes tests in the theoretical and practical aspects of physics.
The name of Al-Farghani Physics Olympiad was named after the scientist Ahmad Al-Farjani (798-861 AH), one of the greatest medieval scientists of the 9th century, an astronomer, mathematician, and geographer, born in Fergana, Uzbekistan. (QNA)
