Akshith Saravanana, a Grade X student of Birla Public School won first place in a 3km virtual school marathon organised by Qatar's Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Qatar Olympic Committee and the Organising Committee for the School Olympic Programme of the Qatar School Sports Association. The event was held in June while the award ceremony took place on November 1 when Saravanana received his gold medal. Birla school academic director and principal Harish Sanduja and vice principal co-scholastics Rajesh Pillai honoured him at the school.
